Phil MacLeod, PhD.  Latin American & Caribbean Studies librarian.  Foreign language expertise: Spanish and Portuguese.

Gautham Reddy, PhD.  South Asian Studies and Religion librarian.  Foreign language expertise: Hindi, Sanskrit, Telugu and Urdu.

Tarina Rosen, MLS.  Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies librarian and Israeli Studies.  Foreign language expertise: Russian, Hebrew and Yiddish.

Guo-hua Wang, MLS & Specialist in Library Automation.  Head of the International Area Studies Team and Chinese Studies librarian.  Foreign language expertise: Chinese.

Neda Zeraatkar, Middle East & Islamic Studies librarian.  Foreign language expertise: Arabic, Persian and Urdu.

Overview

The International Area Studies librarians develop international resources in various foreign languages and provide library services to Emory faculty and students in these areas, programs and academic departments of African Studies, Chinese Studies, East Asian Studies, Japanese Studies, Jewish Studies, Korean Studies, Latin American & Caribbean Studies, Middle East & Islamic Studies, Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, and South Asian Studies.  Our full range of responsibilities including:

  • collection development and management
  • research consultations
  • instruction
  • foreign language cataloging
  • acquisitions (foreign vendors, book fairs/private vendors)
  • assessment
  • reference

Besides covering these international regions, Area Studies librarians also manage the collections in the subject areas of humanities and social sciences, namely history, film, literature, music, political science, religions, public health, gender and sexuality studies, etc. working closely with the related subject librarians.
