Service desks and teams use a variety of tools to record data needed for LibPas, accreditation, and annual reports. The Emory Libraries have the option to use two subscriptions available to support data gathering: LibCal and Desk Tracker. Many members in AIG have had success with Desk Tracker and LibCal and can share best practices. We are also providing here instructions for data managers on the softwares' limitations, contacts, and instructions for compiling datasets. While we also have access to LibInsights, we do NOT recommend LibInsight for archiving data, for recording most consultation data, or for compiling a team's LibCal data.
For advice and instructions on using other tools such as Excel and Tableau, you can use O'Reily ebooks online for training videos and e-manuals available for free to all Emory University accounts. To access, Emory's paid subscription, click on the link "Institution not listed" then type in your Emory e-mail when prompted. You do not need to complete the account set up unless you wish to use the customization features and save your notes. If you want to use the extra features check your spam or junk folder for an email to setup your personal account.
